Taiwan, Taichung – Mou Hotel

Our first booking with hotels.com and we found out that for every 10 nights of accommodation you complete through this site, you get 1 night accommodation free.

We booked a 10 night stay at Mou Hotel in a ‘deluxe quadruple room’ and were surprised at the nice set up in the 33m² room. Friday and Saturday night rates were slightly higher than the rest of the weekdays and we stayed two weekends, so our average nightly rate was a little higher than we would usually like but we didn’t have too many good family options in Taichung.Mou Hotel_Taichung_TaiwanWe had 2 double beds, bedside stand, a couch/day bed, counter top, large TV, hot drink making facilities, small refrigerator, air conditioning unit and wardrobe. Comfortable furnishings, black out curtains, complimentary bottled water each day but the Wi-Fi was pretty weak. Mou Hotel_Taichung_Taiwan_1Separate bathroom that was a nice size with a separate, enclosed shower with good water pressure and temperature control and plenty of complimentary toiletries.Mou Hotel_Taichung_Taiwan_2Breakfast was included in our booking and it was an Asian style breakfast, toast and basic spreads, hot drinks, grape and orange juice and only oranges as a fresh fruit option. We thought it could have been a little better; some of the dishes really needed to be kept warm, more fresh fruit options would be good, the juices would often be very watered down after all the ice had melted and if you arrived from 9am onwards the staff would already be packing up around you (breakfast was advertised as 6.30am-9.30am)

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Before we arrived we needed some items mailed to us from New Zealand so they were there when we checked-in. We contacted the hotel prior and they kindly accepted the items and held them securely for us until we checked-in.

The hotel has a pool table in the lobby that was free to use and also complimentary bicycles. Check-in and breakfast are at the DeBao Hotel, a couple of doors down from Mou.Mou Hotel_Taichung_Taiwan_33 x 7.5kg washing machines available for use (40 NTD per 60 min wash) and 2 x dryers (10 NTD per 20 mins of drying), although we didn’t find the dryers very good. Clothes still damp after 60 mins. There is also a dispenser to purchase washing powder and fabric softener (10 NTD per sachet)

  • Liuchuan Riverside Walk – across the street
