Upon returning to Bangkok from Pattaya with our 3 family groups, we were after a hotel or apartment/condo complex that could accommodate us all and we found this possible at ‘The Lake at Metropark Sathorn’ via booking.com.
We had a few issues checking in and it took about an hour for us and our other two family groups to get into our rooms and then the bedding set up was not what we had booked. Then a staff member turned up at our apartment after 8pm, without any warning, on our first night wanting full payment. If it wasn’t for these couple of issues we would have more favourable feelings towards this accommodation.
Other than the incorrect beds, (we had booked for 1 x double bed and 2 x single beds and got 2 x doubles) the apartment was quite well set up. Quite new washing machine, refrigerator, kettle and toaster although the microwave was a little dated and the electrical socket was damaged, causing sparking occasionally. Wi-fi speed was very good. The pools were clean but one seemed more well maintained compared to the other. There is a shuttle that operates to and from one of the nearby BTS station for 20 THB/$0.89 NZD per person which is quite handy otherwise it would be about a 2km walk. There are a few shops close by (7 Eleven, pharmacy, local restaurants and a massage place) as well as the MetroWest mall, which has a 24 hour supermarket, McDonalds, Starbucks, a few restaurants and shops, although there are still many empty or with ‘coming soon’ signage. A few night food stalls operate in the mall area as well.
- 7 Eleven/shuttle stop – 200m
- MetroWest mall – 400m
- Wutthakat BTS Station – 2.7km
It is quite a distance from central Bangkok and while it was quite easy to get a taxi, Uber or Grab from the location, it was very difficult to get the return journey back to the apartment without paying a ridiculous fare.
Price – $48.89 NZD per night (no extra fees or costs)
